YOUR CONCEPT
Part of the ongoing, Land Lease-led development of Elephant Park in London’s Elephant & Castle, Park Central is a mixed-use development that comprises more than 890 homes alongside a host of retail and leisure units.
The design of the buildings draw clear inspiration from London’s mansion block, particularly the distinctive properties that can be found in Kensington, Marylebone and Southwark.
OUR SOLUTIONS
From the outset of the project, brick has been a fundamental component across the whole development. With Park Central, brick was to play a pivotal role in establishing the build’s aesthetic and ensuring that the development complemented the wider vernacular of the largely Georgian brick suburb in which it sits.
Brick is the key feature in the lower-level blocks which make up the largest share of the development’s footprint – with the buildings ranging between 9 and 12 storeys in height.
PARK CENTRAL
Ibstock’s Cooksbridge Yellow and Bevern Dark bricks have been used to tremendous effect throughout the development. Within the overall façade strategy of the estate, brickwork is articulated with light buildings onto Park Promenade, dark buildings onto New Kent Road and link buildings that mix contrasting tones to provide an attractive transition along Lion Way.
The development’s courtyard is lighter still, mimicking traditional mansion blocks with a creative approach to texture that mixes light and dark bricks and feature bonds.
